Santiago Aguilar

Santiago Aguilar is an active marching arts instructor and choreographer in the Austin-San Antonio area. He spent 6 years as a World Class performer with the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps (2016-2018) and Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps (2019-2021). During this time, Santiago served as the Baritone/Euphonium section leader for Crossmen Brass (2018) and was a member of the leadership team for CrownBRASS (2021). In addition, Santiago has performed in the WGI circuit as a cymbal performer with Violet Crown Independent (2018) and a baritone with Crossmen Winds (2019).

Santiago holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology with a minor in Chemistry from Texas State University (2021), as well as a Master of Science in Immunology and Infection from the University of Texas Health Science Center–San Antonio (2024). His graduate research focused on post-transcriptional regulation of fungal organism, Candida albicans.

Outside of teaching and science, Santiago is an avid traveler and soccer enthusiast. He is the founder of Austin Legends FC, a local grassroots soccer team, and enjoys exploring new places and cultures. He is excited to return for another season with the Santa Clara Vanguard, continuing his passion for teaching and inspiring the next generation of performers.
