Brett arrives at Vanguard Music and Performing Arts after serving a Arts Consultant for Arts Organizations and Museums. He served as Managing Director at Cape Playhouse (Dennis, MA) and Theatre Harrisburg (Harrisburg, PA) where he served as Executive & Artistic Director. He has directed more than 300 productions in his career and has served as Musical Director/Director for such venues as The New York Musical Theatre Festival, Thomaston Opera House, The Hartford Children’s Theater, Theatre Harrisburg, Three Rivers Community College and Preston Community Chorus. In 2000, he was named Distinguished Arts Advocate by the Connecticut Commission on the Arts and received a Commendation for Achievement in the Arts from the State of Connecticut General Assembly. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music in Winchester, VA. He has done graduate work at Wesleyan University (Middletown, CT) and Golden Gate University (San Francisco, CA). He founded and ran The Spirit of Broadway Theater in Norwich, CT for 17 years, earning him international acclaim for excellence in the production and direction of new musicals. He is included in Who’s Who in America as well as Who’s Who in American Executives. Mr. Bernardini has served on the Board of Directors for The Norwich Rotary Club, and President of Rose City Renaissance. In addition, Mr. Bernardini served on the Board of Directors for The National Alliance For Musical Theater (NYC) and as a reader for several national new works programs. He is also the Founder/Producer of The Connecticut High School Musical Theater Awards.
Prior to his work in theater, Mr. Bernardini spent 20 years as a professional high school educator focusing on Choral Music and Theater Arts. He has served on state certification panels, served as a program assessor and as a peer coach for first-year educators.
Born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, Michael Gaines grew up with the pageantry arts all around him. His post high school education included a degree in Finance from the University of Dayton, as well as a Fine Arts degree from the San Francisco Academy of Art University.
From 1998 to 2011, Michael was the drill designer and visual coordinator for The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, and served on the design team for all 7 of their Drum Corps International World Championship titles. He currently creates for marching bands and stage shows, as well as indoor winds, percussion, and color guards in the United States and Asia.
In April of 2007, Michael was inducted into the WGI Hall of Fame, and in August of 2011 he was inducted into to the Drum Corps International Hall of Fame.
His designs have been featured by several high school Bands of America National Champions, with the most recent being the 2016 BOA Grand National Champion, Carmel HS from Indiana. His work was also on display with several groups at WGI this year, including the 2017 Independent World Class Champion Pride of Cincinnati, the Silver Medalist Aimachi, and the Scholastic World Champion, Carmel HS.
Michael currently resides in San Francisco, CA.

Being in love with music her whole life, Patty began her journey through the music scene in Stockton, CA during her years at University of the Pacific where she studied Business Administration with a concentration in Arts & Entertainment Management. Intrigued by the logistics of booking shows and music festivals, Patty began her career in Event Management. From planning events on and off campus to volunteering at a local non-profit music venue, she found an opportunity after graduation to work at large scale music festivals through Insomniac Events. Working festivals from California to the East Coast, Patty truly embraced the music and experiences of every event.
Since relocating to the Bay Area, Patty now works full-time in the Vanguard office helping out with administrative duties and managing all VMAPA events.
Rowena joined Vanguard Music and Performing Arts in December 2018 as a Senior Accountant. Previous to that she worked at The Parkinson’s Institute and Clinical Center for 17 years as an Accountant, Payroll Administrator and Accounts Payable Specialist. Prior to that she worked at Mass Precision Sheetmetal, Bell Industries and Vita Insurance all located in the Bay Area. Before migrating to the United States, her previous work experience was at the PIA/Office of the Press Secretary and St. Luke’s Medical Center both located in the Philippines. She graduated with a BA degree from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines and has a Legal Assistant/Paralegal diploma from Blackstone Career Institute.

Daniel has served the Vanguard organization since 2017 as the Digital Media Associate with the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum & Bugle Corps.
He is a local music educator, and currently works with Fremont High School as their Marching Band Program Coordinator and Winter Percussion Director. During his inaugural year as Winter Percussion Director, Daniel led Fremont High School to be the 2019 CCGC champions as well as recipients of the Shirlee Whitcomb Award (most growth and improvement for the season). Daniel also performs regularly with the San Jose Wind Symphony, SJSU Clarinet Ensemble, and Sharks Drum Corps (whom he co-manages).
In addition to music performance and education, Daniel operates the AV media company, “Made for Marching”, which produces specialized content for music-oriented organizations. His clientele includes San José State University, The Winchester Orchestra, Pasquale Esposito, and many other performing arts organizations.
Kale is a Bay Area Native, born and raised in San Jose. He started his Drum Corps career in 2011 with The Vanguard Cadets, where he marched until 2015. In 2017, he participated with Vanguard in the 2017 Tournament of Roses Parade, and later joined the A-Corps Support Staff for the 2017 and 2018 seasons. He was instrumental in the operation and functionality of Miss Amana and continues to manage all fleet and facility needs at the Vanguard Hall.

Ilda has been involved in bingo for over thirteen years. She was on a local bingo board committee for four years where she volunteered and learned city bingo rules and regulations, games including flash and cherry bells; bingo suppliers and all things related to bingo. Additionally, Ilda volunteered and managed for eight years at St.Clare’s Parish annual carnival where she sold cherry bells and assisted different organizations in preparing and helping at church hall bingo games. Part of the volunteer work was to also schedule volunteers, order supplies, sell flash, count winnings and different various jobs in the bingo hall. She has also volunteered at our local bingo hall selling flash at New Year’s eve games.
Ilda’s work history started at age 16 working at our local city library. She then worked for a telecommunications company for twelve years (last four years as a Technical Writer), followed by seven years at a biotech in Sunnyvale (Accounts Payable Manager). She has co-owned with her husband, a machine shop for the last 22 years where she oversees the shop in various tasks including: managing her shop employees, ordering from vendors; being a liaison with the city officials for licenses and permits, preparing quotes, accounting, and working directly with the customers. She is also a registered Electrologist and owned her small salon for twelve years.
Ilda is a wife, mother, and career woman who loves bingo. She is Santa Clara local with Portuguese heritage who loves to cook and spend time with her friends and family.
