Tyler Primeaux

Tyler Primeaux is a percussionist and music educator from The Colony, TX. He completed his Bachelors degree in Music Education from the University of North Texas, where he studied under Paul Rennick, Mark Ford, Christopher Deane, and Ed Smith. While at UNT, he has performed with the internationally-recognized Wind Symphony, UNT Percussion Ensemble, 2 O’clock Steel Band, and Gamelan Ensemble.

Outside of his academic achievements, Tyler has been an active performer in DCI for 6 years. He was a member of the Crossmen Front Ensemble from 2014-2015, and the Santa Clara Vanguard Front Ensemble from 2016-2020.  During his time at SCV, he has received a gold, silver, and bronze medal, as well as four consecutive Fred Sanford awards for Best Percussion Performance. Tyler is extremely well-rounded and has taught a variety of programs across the DFW area. He is currently a Front Ensemble Technician at the Santa Clara Vanguard and at James Bowie High School in Austin, TX, where he also teaches private lessons.
