Bob McClure holds a BA in Economics from Cal State Fullerton, an MM in Horn Performance from the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music and an MBA from USC’s Marshall School of Business. After a few years as a professional musician, he began working for Merrill Lynch in 1989. After a brief stint at Sutro & Co, in 2001 he opened McClure Investment Management, LLC, providing separate account management of stock and bond portfolios. Many of the firm’s clients are musicians, performers and artists.
In 2007, Bob began working as a part-time lecturer in Finance at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He was named Lecturer Emeritus in 2015. From 2010 to 2020 he was a Trustee at Foothill Country Day School in Claremont, CA, including three years as Board Chair.
Bob played French Horn with SCV in 1981 and 1983.
While no longer a full-time musician, Bob is still an avid horn player. He currently serves as principal horn of the Corona Symphony and the Symphonic Winds of the Pacific as well as freelancing throughout the Los Angeles area.
Bob lives in Glendora, CA with his wife, Sheila, a clarinetist, and two dogs. Their grown daughter, Juliet, works in the fashion industry and doesn’t visit often enough.
