Preston Winton was born and raised in the Texas State Capitol of Austin. He began his color guard journey at McNeil HS, where he quickly fell in love with the activity. Looking to further his experience in the performing arts he began marching drum corps, gaining a wide variety of education experiences. His marching experiences include the Crossmen (2015-16), the Cavaliers (2017-18), and the Santa Clara Vanguard (2019). He also has a history of indoor marching experience, having performed with Invictus (2017-19) and ORIGINS (2020, 2022, 2024).
Preston has had the opportunity to teach several successful scholastic organizations, including the Lake Travis Color Guard (2017-19) and the Vandegrift Vision Dance Company (2019-20). He also has experience teaching Independent organizations, having taught at ORIGINS Open (2022) and the Phantom Regiment (2023).
Currently Preston resides in Houston, TX where he serves as the Color Guard Director at Clements HS. As an alumni of the Santa Clara Vanguard, Preston is beyond excited for the opportunity to teach the next generation of performers.
