Tristan Riviera

Tristan Rivera is currently in his third year as an Associate Director of Bands at Canyon Ridge Middle School in Austin, Texas. He is a native Texan, born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio where he was under the baton of Professor Ron Ellis and Dr. John Zarco. He also had the privilege of studying trumpet under the direction of Dr. Joseph Cooper.

Tristan is currently a mellophone technician with the Santa Clara Vanguard. In 2019, he was on the brass staff of Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps in a similar role. Prior to that, he was a marching member for four years of the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps, based out of Fort Mill, South Carolina, aging out in 2018 as their horn sergeant. Tristan is also currently playing trumpet in a community band called Cedar Park Winds based out of Cedar Park, Texas.

Outside of the band hall, Tristan enjoys travelling, fitness, and cooking (and eating). He is married to his beautiful wife Sydney, recently getting married last summer! Together, they have a black cat named Olive.
