Michael Still

MICHAEL STILL is a digital media and marketing professional with a strong background in graphic design, photography, and brand development. He first joined the Santa Clara Vanguard as a summer intern in 2013, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the corps’ digital presence at a time when social media and content creation was still emerging within the drum corps activity. From managing social media posts and creating visual content to writing blogs that captured daily life on tour, Michael helped lay the foundation for what would become a cornerstone of SCV’s online identity.

His experience with SCV led to a summer internship with Drum Corps International in 2014, and after graduating from Iowa State University in 2015 with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication, he returned to Vanguard for another summer before moving to the Bay Area in 2016 and joining the team full-time as Marketing Manager. Over the next several years, Michael led the growth of SCV’s media and marketing efforts – building a robust media team, overseeing website projects, supporting major fundraising campaigns, and helping drive the organization toward its 2018 world championship.

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, Michael joined BD Performing Arts as Director of Marketing in 2020, where he led promotional efforts for The Blue Devils and their community arts programs. In 2023, he transitioned to a new role at Stanford University’s Department of Music, where he currently serves as Media and Assistant Building Manager – designing concert programs and posters, managing the department website, and supporting day-to-day operations.

Now, Michael is thrilled to return to Santa Clara Vanguard, bringing years of experience and a deep connection to the organization. He looks forward to continuing the growth of the SCV media team, and creating impactful content, enhancing the Vanguard experience for members, fans, and the broader arts community.
