Samantha Umbay is a filmmaker, documentarian, and photographer based in Los Angeles, California. Graduating from UCLA with a Bachelor’s Degree in Film, Television, and Digital Media Production with a concentration in cinematography, she has learned the fundamentals to work professionally as a gaffer, 1st assistant director, or behind-the-scenes director. Currently, she finds navigating the entertainment industry by working on various projects in the Los Angeles area and has become more involved in behind-the-scenes photography and videography for independent films and for DropOutTV on the third season of “Make Some Noise” and tenth season of “Um, Actually.”

Growing up in Southern California, music and the marching arts have been a lifelong love for Sam, starting as a clarinet player in elementary school and eventually switching to low brass in middle and high school. While she hasn’t marched with a Drum Corps, she has been attending competitions all throughout Southern California, and cannot wait to return to this community as a videographer!

When she’s not on set or working, you can find her playing video games, attempting to find the best coffee shop in the SFV, and avoiding making a Letterboxd account.
