Jen Shetland is a career dance educator with over 30 years of coaching, choreographing, and adjudicating experience. Her high school teams have won numerous State and National titles under leadership. She earned her Bachelors in English Education and Masters in Dance- both at California State University, Long Beach. She has been “making up dances” in her living room since she was old enough to run around and learned sewing from her mother at home. She recently retired from full time education and now teaches Yoga, Pilates and fitness in Southern California. When she’s not judging or choreographing for
dance/drill teams, she spends her creative time writing, practicing yoga, and of course crafting and sewing!
She “married into” the DCI world as her husband Rob marched Freelancers and both of her sons marched Vanguard Cadets. As a “band” and drum corps mom she has volunteered, cooked, driven and sewn for many years. When Vanguard returned to the field in 2024, she was honored to help out with uniforms/costumes and ride along with her driver husband. She is truly inspired by the marching arts and loved EVERY minute of the SCV 2025 tour.
