Cheryle Wall Gregg

Cheryle, began her career in marching arts as a member of the Sunnyvale Sparklers majorette corp from 1961-1966.  She later joined the color guard and became a rifle with the Sparks Drum and Bugle Corps from 1965-1966.

When members of the Booster Club decided to leave the Sparklers Association and start a new drum corps, Cheryle chose to join the newly formed drum corps thus becoming  one of the first charter members of the Santa Clara Vanguard.  Cheryle was a member of the winter guard from 1967-1968, when the guard won their first State Championship.

She left the Vanguard as a marching member, but served the Vanguard in other ways, going on tour with the corps in 1989.  In addition, Cheryl was a volunteer and supporter of the Valley Fever Drum and Bugle Corps, going on tour with them in 1983.

Cheryle went on to college to become a special education teacher, graduating from Stanislaus State University in 1988.  Cheryl taught special education at John F. Kennedy School in Modesto from 1988-2007, serving students with multiple handicaps and students who were severely handicapped who also had behavioral issues from the ages of 5-22.  She was a very dedicated and loving teacher.  Cheryle continued to love and follow drum corps until she passed in 2012.
