Now Auditioning: The Otmatone

In a groundbreaking expansion of our musical palette, the Santa Clara Vanguard is proud to announce that we are now accepting applications for The Otamatone Section—set to debut in our 2025 production.

This cutting-edge electronic instrument will bring a new level of expression, flexibility, and whimsy to the field. With its signature wail, the Otamatone promises to blend seamlessly with our brass, percussion, and color guard for a truly unforgettable soundscape. Think Shostakovich meets Saturday morning cartoons.

We’re seeking 6–8 talented performers who can:

🎵 Articulate fast passages while squeezing the Otamatone’s face
🎵 March and emote while playing expressive vibrato
🎵 Tune their Otamatone in a loud ensemble setting (or at least pretend to)

No prior experience necessary—just bring a strong work ethic and your love of the instrument.
