COVID-19 Update: April Camps

Mar 18, 2020 | News, Santa Clara Vanguard, Vanguard Cadets

Last evening, in a special teleconference meeting with the Voting Membership of DCI, Vanguard Music and Performing Arts has agreed to cancel our IN-PERSON April Camp meetings. Instead, Vanguard staff will be working with students through teleconferencing and other online opportunities.

Vanguard Music and Performing Arts is asking its membership to adhere to CDC recommendations in regards to limiting travel, enforcing social distancing, and avoiding gatherings of more than 10 people.

As we look towards the future, Vanguard Music and Performing Arts is fortunate to have a strong leadership team – Ivan De La Cruz (SCV Corps Director), Rafael Bretado (SCVC Corps Director), Zarah Calvin (Head Athletic Trainer), Scott Koter (Program Coordinator), Jeremy Van Wert (Board Member), and Brett Bernardini (Executive Director) – who meet to focus entirely on the Vanguard and the Vanguard Cadets. As the leadership team continues to meet and discuss strategies, options, and the 2020 tour, their priority in making decisions will always be on the well-being, health, and wellness of our staff, students and volunteers. What we know at this time is that SCV & SCVC April Camps will happen online, a decision which has been made in conjunction with recent updates from DCI.

All of us at Vanguard remain committed to the health and wellness of our students, staff and volunteers. We are closely monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) and responding as quickly as we can with the information that is available to us. We will continue to release information as soon as it is available!
