Sunday, October 21, join Vanguard at Avaya Stadium in San Jose as we help celebrate “Santa Clara Day” with the San Jose Earthquakes soccer team!
The Earthquakes’ final regular season home match of 2018 will kick off at 2:00pm – but make sure you show up plenty early because we’ll be there jamming out and pumping up fans on their way to the game. We’ll also be performing the National Anthem, and Carl Huang, 2018 SCV Head Drum Major, will take part in a special Santa Clara Community recognition ceremony to honor SCV’s first DCI championship in 19 years.

Calling all local Vanguard members and alumni – we need your help to make this performance a success! Anyone who would like to play at the game on Sunday, October 21 should CLICK HERE to fill out the interest form BY MONDAY, 10/15 at 5PM, and we will contact you with more details. In the meantime, please review the information listed below:
Who can participate?
This opportunity is open to all current Vanguard Brass & Percussion members as well as alumni. We are looking to fill the ensemble with at least one person from each section; trumpet, mellophone, baritone, tuba, snare, tenor, bass, cymbals.
What music are we playing?
Pop tunes/Top 40. Selections will be distributed digitally on Monday, October 15.
When will we rehearse and perform?
A 2-hour rehearsal will be scheduled based on performer availability either Friday evening (10/19) or Saturday morning (10/20). Call time for the performance is TBA but performers should expect a time commitment of around 11:00am – 4:30pm on the day of the game.
What will the uniform be?
Performers will wear a Vanguard t-shirt (provided by the organization) and dark/black pants or khaki shorts, depending on the weather, and dark/black athletic shoes. We will follow up with details about the uniform in an email on Monday.
What do we get for performing?
