The Santa Clara Vanguard (SCV) is excited to announce the promotion of Charles Frost to the role of Corps Director and Acting Executive Director following the resignation of Executive Director Jeff Fiedler. In this new role, Charles will be responsible for leading SCV’s mission as a youth performing arts organization, and overseeing the success of all of SCV’s nationally competitive performing groups and community music programs.

SCV1301_charlesfrost250_20160207-113216An alumnus of SCV (2001 & 2003), Charles has been Vanguard’s Corps Manager since 2013, serving a critical leadership role in the day-to-day operation of the Corps throughout the year. In addition to his duties with the Corps, Charles launched the Vanguard Community Arts Initiative in 2013 and has grown the program to include the Santa Clara Big Band, SCV Youth Brass Ensemble, and Private lessons program.

“Please join me in welcoming Charles to his new position in the organization,” said SCV Board Chairman Kevin Brooks. “With [Charles] at the forefront, we are confident this transition will run smoothly.”

Charles is an active member of the music community in the Bay Area, performing live on trumpet at numerous events. His work with the Community Arts Initiative has him teaching clinics at schools in Santa Clara and beyond. Charles lives in Santa Clara, CA with his fiancée Brittany McMillan. They enjoy hiking and exploring all that Silicon Valley has to offer.

After eight years with SCV, Jeff felt the organization had achieved a level of success that would allow him to put more focus on his health and his family. He plans to move back to his native Chicago to be closer to friends and family, and to take a position with an education-related nonprofit.
