Paul Lujan is a trumpet player and music teacher based out of Fresno, California. He attended California State University, Fresno where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Music Education. While at CSU, Fresno, he studied trumpet with Dr. Nathan Sobieralski and was a member of multiple audition-only scholarship ensembles. He has worked as a brass and visual technician for multiple high school bands in the Fresno area, including Bullard High School, Clovis North High School, and El Diamante High School. He also teaches private trumpet lessons, working with students from ages 8 to 30. In addition to teaching, Paul works as a freelance trumpet player, playing for GPG Publications as a recording artist and for local high school and collegiate musical theater productions.
Paul was a member of the Santa Clara Vanguard drum and bugle corps for the 2013 and 2014 Drum Corps International seasons, where he marched lead trumpet and performed across the United States with the corps. He also marched in the 2017 Tournament of Roses parade in with the Santa Clara Vanguard. Upon aging out of DCI in 2014, Paul joined the administrative staff of the Vanguard Cadets drum and bugle corps as an Assistant Tour Manager up until the end of the 2017 DCI season. He looks forward to spending another summer with the corps and getting to work with a talented group of students and a great educational team.
