Angelo Makropoulos is a music educator from the south Chicago suburbs where he teaches band, percussion, and music production at the Yorkville School District in Yorkville, IL.
Previously, he was an Assistant Band Director at Marian Catholic High School where he also taught jazz, music theory, percussion and was the percussion and sound designer for the marching band, bringing them to several BOA Finals appearances as well as a Class AA National Championship. He has been on the sound/percussion staff at the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps since 2018 and is also one of the audio engineers at the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps. During the WGI season, he is on percussion staff with Cap City Percussion from Columbus, OH and is an adjudicator for the Midwest Color Guard Circuit. Angelo also is a music/percussion/audio arranger for multiple high school marching bands, winter guards and winter percussion programs.
He received a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education with a minor in Music Business from Western Illinois University where he served as the drum major of the Marching Leathernecks, and principal percussionist of the WIU Bands and Orchestra. Angelo earned his Master’s in Music Education from The Vandercook College of Music. Angelo is an alumnus of the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps and is endorsed by Innovative Percussion, Mapex/Majestic Percussion, Remo Drumheads, and Zildjian Cymbals.
