SCV Winter Guard on hiatus for 2017 season

Sep 11, 2016 | News, SCV Winter Guard

In order to prepare for and celebrate Santa Clara Vanguard’s 50th Anniversary in 2017, we will be focusing our efforts to ensure great experiences for members and audiences alike. That is why, while we have enjoyed great success with our award winning Winter Guard, we are taking a brief hiatus for the upcoming WGI season.

“We are aware of the impact this decision will have on the WGI community and we want everyone to rest assured, we are dedicated to relaunching our winter programs in 2018,” said Charles Frost, Executive Director. “We look forward to returning with a rejuvenated program that will lead the activity to a new level.”

From SCV Winter Guard Director, Denise Bonfiglio, “The SCV winter guard has given so many young adults the opportunity to perform at the highest level of competition for the past 11 seasons. We will miss our WGI family of friends and supporters as we take this short break in preparation for 2018. SCV Winter Guard wishes WGI a happy 40th anniversary and best of success to all guards competing this coming season. See you in 2018!!!”

Meanwhile, there are amazing performance opportunities continuing to unfold. The Santa Clara Vanguard and Vanguard Cadets will participate in the upcoming 2017 Rose Parade, and we will also be hosting an SCV Alumni Corps this summer to honor 50 years of excellence.

This Winter we will continue to run and expand our community arts programs with more opportunities for education and performance right around the corner.  We look forward to announcing exciting news in the coming months!  Thank you for your support.
