The award-winning Santa Clara Vanguard Drum & Bugle Corps has been selected to participate in the 128th Rose Parade presented by Honda on January 2, 2017. The corps will represent the City of Santa Clara and Silicon Valley in this world-renowned event.

The Santa Clara Vanguard (SCV) organization will also celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2017. “The Rose Parade will be a perfect start to our year-long celebration,” according to Jeff Fiedler, CEO. “We are honored and very excited to be selected to participate in the 2017 Rose Parade.”

SCV will feature nearly 250 members in the parade representing the Vanguard, Vanguard Cadets, their Winter Guard and Winter Percussion Ensembles, and select members of the Vanguard Alumni Corps. Although most members and alumni of Vanguard programs come from Bay Area communities, performers travel from all over the country to join the Santa Clara Vanguard.

The Vanguard’s mission is to “be the recognized leader in music and movement education for young people in Silicon Valley.” The organization holds 14 international championship titles, including six Drum Corps International World Class titles and four Open Class titles; most recently including the Vanguard Cadets 2015 Championship win. The Vanguard Winter Guard has also won three Winter Guard International (WGI) World Class titles including the 2015 Championship, and the Winter Percussion won the 2011 WGI Open Class title.
