Meet The Leadership: 2017 SCV Color Guard

May 9, 2017 | Uncategorized, News

At the center of every strong drum corps is a strong team of member leadership. Serving as a liaison between performers and staff, this team of veteran members also puts in the extra effort to lead by example and set a standard for the entire corps.

“We have a very talented and experienced group of performers in the Guard this year, and our leadership reflects that very well,” said Daniel Riley, SCV Color Guard Caption Manager. “This is Megan’s fifth season with the Santa Clara Vanguard and her third year in a leadership role. I couldn’t think of anyone more ready to take charge as Head Color Guard Captain this summer!”

It is our pleasure to introduce the 2017 Santa Clara Vanguard Color Guard Leadership Team:

Megan Smith, 2017 SCV Head Color Guard Captain

Originally from Davie, FL, Megan attended West Broward High School and is currently a student at the University of Central Florida. Megan was a member of the West Broward World Guard for 4 years and after graduating in 2015, she moved to Orlando where she became a member of the 2016 UCF Pegasus World Guard. Megan has been a member of the Santa Clara Vanguard since 2013. Through her membership in SCV she has had the opportunity to perform all over the world including the 2015 Taoyuan International Band Festival in Taiwan, and the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2017 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, CA
