Help Send Vanguard to the 2017 Rose Parade!

Sep 12, 2016 | News, Santa Clara Vanguard, Vanguard Cadets

On January 2, 2017, we will kick-off our 50-year anniversary by participating in the 128th Annual Tournament of Roses Parade. Vanguard is the first marching group EVER to be asked to perform in both the opening and closing ceremonies! The Rose Parade is watched by an average of 49 million people on live television each year, and our performance will be a source of immense pride for our members, supporters, and community

This once-in-a-generation opportunity also provides a challenge to our budget. Vanguard assumes all costs to perform in the parade and to participate in the opening and closing ceremonies. We will be taking 250 members and 30 staff to Pasadena and will need to provide bus and fleet transportation (Miss Amana, equipment truck, etc.) and lodging for 3 days. We anticipate that total costs will be $150,000.

Supporting Vanguard’s participation in the Rose Parade will give our members, the Santa Clara Community and all DCI fans a sense of pride and accomplishment – not to mention a performance to remembers in front of 700,000 parade attendees! This Tournament of Roses performance recognizes achievements of SCV’s 50 years, and the sacrifices and personal investment made by our students, members, their parents, and our wonderful volunteers.

All donations will be recognized on our Donor Wall at the Vanguard Headquarters in Santa Clara and are tax-deductible. You can donate online at: www.scvanguard.org/donation
