Here is your opportunity to start your audition journey from the convenience of your home! The audition packet and a link to submit your video can be found in the ticket you receive upon purchase of this event.

You should expect feedback and grades within 1-2 weeks of submission.

• Video 1 – Music
  
  Please edit the following into one video:

  – Introduction – Share with us your marching experience and why you would like to march Vanguard! Please include your first and last name, the instrument you’re auditioning on, where you’re from, what school you attend, your major in college (if applicable), and your drum corps and/or related experience.

  – Technical selection of your choice (~30 seconds): the difficulty level and music choice (Etude, solo, etc.) you make is your decision but should demonstrate your abilities

  – Lyrical selection of your choice (~30 seconds): the difficulty level and music choice (Etude, solo, etc.) you make is your decision but should demonstrate your abilities

  – PLEASE READ: if you are performing one selection that includes your technical and lyrical selections combined, please pause between selections before continuing with your next selection.
  
  – Chromatic scale: performed from the performers lowest comfortable note to the performers highest comfortable note

• Video 2 – Visual:
  – Box Drill (Left box and Right box drill): Using your most current marching technique from where you have been taught, please demonstrate the following 3 reps total, 1 at each indicated tempo of the box drill exercise. Try to demonstrate with a default 8 to 5 grid size area (about a 15 ft x 30 ft would be ideal), or as close as possible. Step sizes should be 8 to 5 for whole exercise.

  – Box Drill Information: Front view only is fine.
  —1 rep at 110 bpm
  —1 rep at 144 bpm
  —1 rep at 180 bpm

  – The instructions are as follows:
  —March Forward 8 counts
  —March Left for 8 counts (forward slide)
  —March Backwards 8 counts
  —March Right for 8 counts (backward slide)
  —Halt 4 counts
  —March Forward 8 counts
  —March Right for 8 counts (forward slide)
  —March Backwards 8 counts
  —March Left for 8 counts (backwards slide)
  —Halt (finished)

  – Tempos: 110 bpm, 144 bpm, and 180 bpm
