With just over one month until our first audition camp of the 2019 season, Vanguard Music and Performing Arts is very excited to announce the promotion of David Yunis to the position of Santa Clara Vanguard Corps Director! No stranger to the organization, David previously served as SCV Corps Manager and played a key role in the logistical success of the group, working to ensure the health and safety of all members and helping to provide them with the best quality Vanguard Experience.
“I’ve always admired this organization, and I feel like I’ve found a home here with the Santa Clara Vanguard,” said Yunis. “It’s truly an honor and a privilege to be selected as the new SCV Corps Director. I look forward to building upon our rich history and continuing to share the Vanguard values of excellence, passion, and integrity with performers and fans across the country.”
Originally from Miami FL, David Yunis has been a Percussion Educator in South Florida since 2005, working with various schools and music programs. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from New World School of the Arts. David was a member of DCI’s Magic of Orlando and competed in WGI with South Florida Percussion Company from 2005 to 2006. Currently, David works as the Percussion Educator and Front Ensemble Coordinator for Park Vista High School in Lake Worth, FL. In addition, David has been involved with a non-profit, world class organization, STRYKE. He has been a part of their successes since 2009. As their Director of Operations, David has helped amplify the organization from what started as a percussion ensemble, to what now has evolved into multiple arrays of performance ensembles including percussion, winds, and color guard.
As David transitions into this elevated new role, he will work closely with Charles Frost, VMAPA Executive Director, to ensure the staff, member, and volunteer experiences continues to be top notch at the Santa Clara Vanguard.
“As SCV Corps manager, David brought such passion and energy to the Vanguard Experience,” said Frost. “Since the day he arrived, it was clear that he was a great fit for our organization, and I am confident he will become the next great Corps Director of Santa Clara Vanguard.”
