In Loving Memory of Christina Mavroudis:

Celebrating a Life Filled with Love, Laughter, and the Spirit of Drum Corps

Christina Mavroudis was a loving mother, grandmother, friend, and devoted supporter whose presence brought warmth, joy, and encouragement to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her smile was unforgettable, her laughter- infectious, and her passion for the people and arts activities she loved was truly extraordinary.

Above all, Christina cherished her family. She was a proud and caring mother to Emily Mavroudis Contreras (SCVC/SCV), a loving mother-in-law to Reuben Contreras,  a devoted grandmother to Lilly Contreras, and partner to Ed Dempsey. Her family was her heart, and the love she gave them will continue to live on through the generations.

Christina’s love and generosity went far beyond her family. She was one of Vanguard and Vanguard Cadets biggest supporters and fans, always ready to cheer on the Corps with enthusiasm and pride. Whether she was in the stands applauding every performance or out on the field capturing special moments through her camera, Christina was an unmistakable part of the drum corps community.

Her connection to Drum Corps International (DCI) ran deep. As a marching member of both the Blue Devils and the Renegades, Christina experienced the dedication, discipline, camaraderie, and lifelong friendships that make drum corps so special. Her love for the activity continued long after her days as a performer. She gave back to the community she loved in so many ways, serving as a writer, photographer, and volunteer for DCI and other Drum Corps Outlets. Through her words, her photographs, and her countless hours of service, she helped tell the stories of drum corps and preserve the memories that mean so much to its members and families.

To so many of us, Christina wasn’t just a familiar face in the stands or behind a camera lens—she was a true friend, our biggest cheerleader, and a keeper of our stories. She felt like the heart of a community that stretched far beyond the field. Her infectious smile and laugh had a way of turning a grueling rehearsal around, lifting our spirits after a tough performance, and reminding us why we fell in love with this activity in the first place.

Christina’s life was a beautiful example of what it means to love deeply, give generously, and support others wholeheartedly. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, loyalty, and an enduring love for her family and the drum corps community.

Rest in peace, Christina. Thank you for the love, the laughter, the memories, and the unwavering support. Your spirit will always have a place in our hearts, in the Vanguard family, and in the drum corps community you helped make so special
