SCV 2026 MEMBERS

Membership Information

Congratulations on gaining membership for the 2026 Santa Clara Vanguard! We hope you’ve discovered more about yourself, as well as where your interests and talent can take you and we are excited to have you become part of the team this year.

As a member of the Santa Clara Vanguard, you will be expected to continue to improve your skills and immediately begin physical conditioning. As is stated in the member handbook, once a contract is given, it is up to the member to maintain their contract through submission of assignments, continued skill development, a commitment to pre-tour training and rehabilitation, and adherence to the code of conduct. All contracted members experience the possibility of getting a field position, an alternate position, or being released from the corps if they do not maintain these standards. This is now your spot to keep or lose. Should your skills plateau or diminish before the summer performance season, your position with the corps may be reevaluated.

We are honored and privileged that you chose the Santa Clara Vanguard in 2026. Should you decide to discontinue the membership process at any point, please email gbastante@scvanguard.org with that decision as soon as possible.

Please continue on this page to review the Membership Checklist to complete your membership onboarding!

10. Review the Frequently Asked Questions

As a contracted member, what will I be expected to do?

Within seven (7) days of receipt of your membership offer, you will be required to pay your non-refundable $200 membership deposit. You will receive a membership contract and you will need to read through and agree to the terms of membership. If you do not communicate or make your membership deposit payment in the time allotted, your membership offer may be retracted. There will be additional documents sent your way throughout the pre-season and it is your responsibility as a member to complete all tasks in a timely manner.

2026 tuition costs are $5,550 for the full summer. Tuition may be paid all at once or in multiple installments beginning in January 2026.  Multiple scholarship opportunities will be available for all participants. SCV offers early payment discounts, returning member discounts, and sibling discounts.

Does a membership contract guarantee me a spot in the show?

Earning a contract does not guarantee an on-field performance spot. A contract gives you a spot within the corps. Any performer may be assigned to an understudy/alternate position at any time and staff will keep you informed about your standing regularly and provide feedback for improvement. You must keep up with practicing, assignments, maintain a positive attitude, and show a reasonable amount of improvement throughout pre-season and the summer. Refunds are not offered to students who are placed in an understudy/alternate position. All members of the corps carry the same level of responsibility.

What if I am unable to attend the in-person callback camp?

It is crucial that our staff see you in person before deciding on your potential membership for 2026. If you have an extenuating circumstance that does not allow for you to attend in person, please contact your caption manager as soon as possible

What is provided at a callback camp event?

You can expect the following at a callback camp event:

  • Transportation to/from the airport Friday evening and Sunday afternoon. You can find more information when signing up for shuttles after you register for your event
  • Housing at the school Friday and Saturday evenings
  • Six meals throughout the weekend starting with late-night snack Friday night and breakfast Sunday morning
  • Access to on-campus showers
What should I bring to camp?

Here is a list of what to bring to audition camps.

What is the time commitment of a member?

You will be required to complete online assignments and training assigned from January through Pre-Tour (May Move-Ins).

Rehearsal camps are required for all members. If you are unable to attend a rehearsal camp you must notify corps management and caption managers.

Rehearsal Camps

  • February 20-22 Rehearsal Camp, North Texas Area (Brass, Percussion, Drum Majors)
  • March 27-29 Rehearsal Camp, North Texas Area (Brass, Percussion, Drum Majors)
  • April 24-26 Rehearsal Camp & Guard Callback, San Jose Area (ALL Members)

In May all members will join SCV full time to rehearse at our Pre-Tour location in Moscow, ID (Percussion will begin in North Texas on May 15th and then join the rest of the corps in Idaho. Members are responsible for their transportation between these locations).  You will be rehearsing, living, and performing with the corps for approximately 3 months, beginning Memorial Day Weekend and ending August 9 at our member banquet following DCI Finals.

Can I stay at home if I live near one of our camps?

Staying overnight with the drum corps is part of the experience and training to be successful during the summer tour. We expect all members, regardless of proximity to our housing site, to stay overnight.
