Katie Gilchrist

Katie Gilchrist teaches band and orchestra at Peterson Middle School in Sunnyvale, CA. Before this current position, she taught elementary school music and high school band in the greater San Jose area. Katie graduated from San Jose State University where she studied saxophone and earned her bachelor’s degree in Music Education. She is currently pursuing a masters degree in Music Education from the University of Michigan. Katie is very involved in the marching arts in the San Francisco Bay Area. Katie marched both baritone and mellophone in the Vanguard Organization from 2014-2017 and was a part of the Vanguard Cadets, SCV International (Taiwan), and the 2017 Rose Parade. She currently works on the marching band staff at Monta Vista HS and Lynbrook HS, and has been a visual staff member for the Vanguard Cadets Drum and Bugle corps since 2019. Katie is professionally involved with the California Music Educators Association and California Band Directors Association. She also serves on the board for CMEA Bay Section as one of the Solo and Ensemble Festival Coordinators, and is the Band Manager for the CBDA All-State High School Wind Symphony.
