With our first audition camp less than one month away, we are excited to introduce the 2017 Santa Clara Vanguard staff leadership!
Denise Bonfiglio returns as the 2017 Staff Coordinator, and has done tremendous work behind the scenes to ensure that Vanguard’s staff is made up of the greatest teachers, mentors, and musicians from across the country.
Chip Crotts, who joined our team last year, will return again as Brass Caption Manager with the support of Assistant Brass Caption Manager Mark Nichols; Paul Rennick will be back as Percussion Caption Manager, hoping to lead Vanguard to their third Fred Sanford High Percussion award under his reign; and Daniel Riley will once again take on the role of Color Guard Caption Manager, his fifth year in the position.
“We are grateful and excited to have such a quality education team for SCV’s 50th year,” said Vanguard Corps Director Shaun Gallant. “Their commitment to excellence and high standards of instruction will ensure the growth and development of the membership beyond their time with the corps.”
In addition to those who are returning, we are equally excited to announce the promotion of visual staff member Matt Hartwell to the position of Visual Caption Manager in 2017.
“I’m excited to welcome new responsibilities for this upcoming season. With a veteran visual team returning, I’m confident that the 2017 corps will not miss a beat as we look to move the activity forward,” said Hartwell. “Most importantly, the unique synergy amongst the entire instructional team creates an opportunity and environment for immediate growth and success of the Santa Clara Vanguard.”
Chris Alexander, who has served in the role of Visual Caption Manager from 2010 through 2016, will continue to support our visual team as the Visual Caption Supervisor, lending his expertise throughout the audition process, rehearsal camps, and spring training. Alexander has worked closely with Hartwell at SCV for 7 years, and believes he is more than qualified and ready to take on this new position.
“Matt has been an integral member of the visual staff since 2010. He represents our team’s highest standards and the corps is going to benefit immensely from his leadership,” said Alexander.
