Seth Murphy comes to The Santa Clara Vanguard for the 2024 season with over 20 years of drum corps teaching experience. He has worked with groups such as Carolina Crown, Blue Stars, Pacific Crest, Mandarins, and The Cadets asa brass technician and Brass Caption Manager.
Murphy has been a classroom music teacher for 20 years, with his most recent stints at Arcadia High School in Arcadia, CA, and has served as the Music Director at First Avenue Middle School, also in Arcadia, CA for the last four years.
Before becoming a full-time music educator, Seth perfoemd with the Tony and Emmy Award-Winning cast of Blast! as a euphonium soloist, trombonist, marching baritonist, and snare drummer in the production.
Seth is originally from Rock Hill, SC and holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Performance on euphonium and bass trombone from Winthrop University. He is also pursuing his Master’s Degree in Music Education at The University of Missouri.
Seth Lives in Azusa, CA with his wife of 13 years, Kimi, and two sons, Gavin and Grayson.
