Vanguard Cadets Brass & Battery Workshop

Oct 27, 2016 | News, Vanguard Cadets

What better way to prepare for your 2017 Vanguard Cadets audition than by learning directly from the SCVC staff? The four time DCI Open Class Champions are eager to obtain their fifth title and they want YOU to be a part of it.

On Sunday, November 13th from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, staff from the Vanguard Cadets’ Brass, Visual, and Battery Percussion sections will be conducting a workshop to help local returning and prospective SCVC members prepare for their audition. Audition camps will be held November 26-27 in Los Angeles, CA and December 16-18 in San Jose, CA.

Brass players: all trumpet players must bring their own instruments. If you have access to a mellophone, baritone, or tuba we also recommend bringing that with you. If not, you can borrow one of these instruments, but you must bring your own mouthpiece (baritones must bring a large bore mouthpiece).

Battery percussionists: this workshop will consist of learning the Vanguard Cadets 2017 exercise packet and technique guidelines. We will have staff to cover all sections (Snare, Tenor, Bass, Cymbals) and provide feedback for anyone interested in attending auditions.

Since you will be marching/moving, appropriate clothing and shoes are essential. We also recommend you start your day off with a nice breakfast and bring a water jug to keep hydrated throughout the day. The Vanguard Cadets Corps Director will be on hand to answer any questions you may have regarding this season.
