The offseaon planning is well underway. Audition camp is just around the corner. As usual, we will be hosting our audition and clinic/camp from November 23rd - 25th.
This camp is for those who desire to audition for membership in the Santa Clara Vanguard or Vanguard Cadets. The camp is an opportunity for you to learn and experience the Santa Clara Vanguard organization. Please understand that we are glad you are interested and are looking forward to your participation. Just relax and do your best. Please use the RSVP form to let us know you are coming.
The Santa Clara Vanguard is pleased to announce that Bob Chreste has joined the staff as Brass Caption Manager. Please view the remaining new brass staff.
The Santa Clara Vanguard is pleased to announce the return of Murray Gusseck to Vanguard. Murray joins Brian Mason and Lonny Benoit to lead the Vanguard percussion section. For the past two seasons, Brian Mason has been the Front Ensemble Arranger and Caption Manager. For the 2008 season, Brian will be responsible for coordinating the percussion caption, in addition to arranging for the entire percussion ensemble. Lonny Benoit is the Front Ensemble Caption Manager.
The Santa Clara Vanguard announces that Adams, Glass & Whitacre make up "3HREE", our production for 2008.

| Vanguard Cadets Report |
The Vanguard Cadets have announced their 2008 production, "Perspectives". The Vanguard Cadets have commissioned Hollywood-based film and television composer and Santa Clara Vanguard alumnus, James Peterson to compose this original work. Peterson will be working with orchestrator Robby Elfman to craft the music. This year's show, Perspectives will feature all original music, a first for DCI's Open Class.
The Vanguard Cadets celebrated their 2007 season with the annual awards banquet on Sunday, October 7th at Fiorillo's restaurant in Santa Clara. Congratulations the Vanguard Cadets and especially this year's award recipients.
All prospective Vanguard Cadets Brass, Colorguard and Percussion performers are encouraged to attend the full-weekend combined Vanguard and Vanguard Cadets clinic on November 23, 24 & 25 held in Santa Clara. However, if you don't feel like you're ready for the combined auditions or are interested only in the Vanguard Cadets, you must attend auditions specifically for our group on Sunday, November 25 and Sunday, December 16. Please check out the Vanguard Cadets Audition Page for more information.
The Vanguard Cadets have announced the return of Kohei Mizushima to lead the Vanguard Cadets percussion section. For the 2008 season, Kohei will be responsible for managing the percussion caption in addition to composing for the battery percussion. More about the Vanguard Cadets on the SCVanguard.org |

The Winterguard has announced their performance schedule for the 2008 seaon. The staff is really excited to get started, especially with the momentum from a successful summer program with the drum corps.

| Children's Adventures in Movement |
Children's Adventure in Movement (CAM) was founded in 2001 as a creative dance outreach program. The program was conceived, founded and directed for its first five years by Carol Abohatab, whose mission was to serve the Santa Clara and surrounding communities with an alternative, both creatively and monetarily, to existing programs in the are. The program teaches children proper dance techniques and terminology, while offering an alternative to other dance schools by allowing for freedom of expression in our classes. In this way, children become problem solvers while building coordination, and strength in a total movement experience!
We offer Tap, Ballet and Creative Dance for 4-6 year olds, Creative Dance/Choreography and Ballet for 7-12 year olds, and Flag/Dance and Hip-Hop for 8-14 year olds.
The fall, winter and spring sessions schedule are available. Please check out our CAM program schedule. Inspired to Move (IM) is a new Community Program of the Santa Clara Vanguard, founded by Desiree Dela Pena in 2007. In a non-competitive environment, dancers are able to focus on developing technique while simply enjoying the movement. We offer beginner classes for those who are inspired to learn the art of dance and intermediate/advanced classes for those who are inspired to express themselves through movement. The classes are intended for individuals ages 16 and up.

At the Stanford show, the SCV alumni combined with the current marching members from the Vanguard and Blue Devils along with BD Alumni in celebration of both corps to form the largest corps on the west coast. Check out the pictures found on the alumni page.
