Interested in Joining the Vanguard Cadets?
Attend the Sunday afternoon Workshops/Rehearsals beginning every Sunday in December and January.

SCV Hall, 1795 Space Park Drive, Santa Clara (see map)

This is a chance to check things out with no pressure to join. Use our instruments and equipment to see if drum corps is right for you. No experience is necessary for the Brass and Colorguard sections. Show up to any or all of the rehearsals.

BRASS
Beginners thru experienced are encouraged to attend beginning in December and January during our regular Sunday Workshops/Rehearsals. December 3rd is our first "orientation" meeting. If you miss this, please come to any of the following weekly Sunday Workshop/Rehearsals from 1-4pm at the SCV Hall (see map). For detailed schedule information, please go to our monthly schedule.

Out-of-area candidates should contact us at cadets@scvanguard.org about details and rehearsal expectations.

The audition process typically lasts several months. California candidates are expected to be at all weekly Sunday rehearsals and monthly camps. Wednesday rehearsals (beginning in January) are for members who live within 100 miles of the Santa Clara area, and may be determined on a per section basis.

Bring a mouthpiece that you normally use with your instrument(s). Wear tennis shoes and clothes (appropriate for weather conditions) that will allow you to do some marching and movement.

PERCUSSION
You may audition separately for the Vanguard Cadets during one of our weekly Sunday Workshops/Rehearsals beginning in December.

If you live in California, and you would like to audition just for the Vanguard Cadets Percussion sections, please come to our Sunday Workshops/Rehearsals beginning on December 3rd. If you are unable to attend on December 3rd, please come to any of the following weekly Sunday Workshop/Rehearsals from 1-4pm at the SCV Hall (see map). For detailed schedule information, please go to our monthly schedule.

Note that due to the typically large amounts of candidates for percussion section, the more rehearsals you can attend, the better. There is no fee for the Vanguard Cadets auditions.
