Looking at the support issues that go into running a youth activity like the one we participate in, it is difficult to tell whether you are ending a season or beginning a new one. When the fleet comes home from summer tour after logging 15,000 miles, are you fixing problems that occurred on the road or are you just doing preventitive maintenance.
This past week, two major projects were taken on with our fleet, the replacement of the overlayment roof of SCV4, the A Corps equipment trailer, was accomplished by a group of volunteers on what was to be a sunny day. This is a preventative layer that allows the instructional staff to use the trailer as a viewing platform during field rehearsals.
Terry Maurer, Brian Marsalli, Mike Drottz, Dan Diviney and Randy Burt spent several hours in the morning drizzle, cutting and reinstalling the plywood decking that overlays the roof.

Also this past week, SCV8, Miss Amana the A Corps kitchen, was taken to Coach Specialties in Alamada for new exterior painting. This is preventative maintenance which will aid in ensuring a longer life for the lady. Amana is the life blood of the corps on the road, and keeping her in top shape is a high priority to our organization.
Also receiving new paint this year will be SCV4, the A Corps equipment trailer, and SCV10, the Merchandise trailer. Additional projects for this year include adding a generator to SCV1, the A Corps Administration and Support bus, and converting SCV3 for the Cadet Corps staff and support.
This is a strong beginning to an off season that will see many upgrades and replacements to a fleet that well deserves them.
