WINTER GUARD "Hamming it up!" On New Year's Eve
December 26, 2010
The winter guard wishes to thank all the alumni and friends who volunteered some wrapping time while they rehearsed on weekends, allowing the guard to present the gift wrap service uninterrupted for a period of 14 days.
The guard's next fundraiser comes up very quickly as they serve 500 dinners to New Year's Eve bingo patrons at the corps hall. The guard hopes to decrease their expenses for the dinner preparation by seeking the donation of approximately 300 pounds of ham. The guard is looking for assitance from friends by seeking donations of hams weighing approximately 15 to 20 lbs which can be brought to the hall during business hours Monday through Friday.
If you're not local, but still wish to make a donation to defer the guard's expenses, you can make a monetary donation by either calling the office (408-727-5532) or sending a check in care of the SCV Winter Guard, 1795 Space Park Drive, Santa Clara, CA 95054. The suggested donation is $20. For local friends interested in actually purchasing hams and bringing them to the office, we understand that Bay Area Safeway stores have a special Holiday Ham promotion going on.
The winter guard appreciates your support. The 32-member guard has been rehearsing since late October and begins it's winter season on Saturday evening, January 8, 2011 when they appear at the California Color Guard Circuit evaluation show.
